And it is very humbling. It is hard to rely on strangers for support, yet sometimes that is exactly what we need.

Recovering from a hurricane is emotionally and physically overwhelming to say the very least. So when food and water "magically" appear, the relief of having that taken off our to-do list, is HUGE! And, until you've been there, you really have no idea how much it means.

I have been in this situation and the first time a Red Cross truck came into our community I cried. Because that was when it hit home that we were "those people." The ones on the commercials that I had seen my whole life that were desparate following a disaster. The ones who had to rely on strangers.
